A Book is an open window..

* She said- A Book is an open window *

An open window lits the room,
No matter however gloomy it was.
Letting in the ray of light-
Vanishing all the darkness within.

One may remain within confines;
Yet be exposed to the things happening..
A Book teaches of a subject,
Light- the existence of an object.

You stand next to one,
Watching the serenes:
You see the Sunrise; the mark of a Dawn,
A trail of the horse- cart, even when gone..

I now write- to create a Window..
Would take long; but, one- I will..!

It would no longer matter then-
That I am locked up in a cell..
For that window would be my floor;
Opening me out- as a Door.

It would let the passersby
discover me hidden deep inside!
The Window would then compete with the walls,
Standing Me strong- opposing them all.

I’d be set free of all the pain;
The humiliation, the anger, the disgust n the hurt..
Marking a beginning of a new life song-
One that I’ld sing with everyone along.

My Dear Mom, bless me again-
I’ve only started, the way’s far stretched.
I promise I won’t give up till I’m done;
I’ll adorn my victory- they’ll say “I have won..”

..

My Dear Mom,

This is what you often said when I was young- it’s your song I am singing here..
Since a last few days now, I have been wanting to Change My Destiny yet again! I now wonder, is this what you had always wanted to tell..? Did you know I’ll take to writing apparently..? Is this why you talked about a “Book” so often..? Did you want me to understand that My Writes will open me up from my captivity..? Liberating Me eventually?

Love

    Bless you, gal!! This is wonderful! Sometimes, the words of our loved ones just keep echoing in depths of our subconscious minds, and keeps surfacing and resurfacing… that’s a sign.. (or so I think)… and when you see such a sign, it’s really time to act on it too!

    This poem says it all! And so beautifully too… I really could see and feel you say this to your mom, sweetie… I am sure she is PROUD of you!

      Girl, you always manage to make a big smile sit on my face with your words here! Touched.. Thank you so much.. Hugs xoxoxox

    Olivia,
    As you think of your mother when you write, I think of my grandmother. She loved books and wrote a lot of stories herself. I think it helped her deal with a lot of pain in her life. It’s a great way to express ourselves and much cheaper than therapy!

    Your mother is watching over you, Olivia.
    Over, under, and on every side.

    Keeping things in perspective…
    straightening out priorities…
    to read or to write? Tough question.
    The more you read the better you’ll write.
    Guaranteed! Read through this one again
    very slowly, line by line. I got distracted by
    a couple of things right off. If it sounds like
    I’m being tough on you, well…I am. I like you!
    The looks of your home page are fab! You can do this.
    No need to hurry. No need to write 10,000 poems.
    Write 10 very, very good ones, and you’ll not be forgotten.

    Lots of love with this possibly unwarranted comment, my dear.
    And maybe a hug, too. 😉 Peace, UT

      Since evening, something was building up inside me. I am glad reading your words made me let me weep a couple of tears.

      I am sure you know it’s about to be able to convey, instead of writing it in any “trained” manner- since I am not.. 🙂
      Then again, my writing made me meet you too.

      I too look forward to our Writing month together.

    This is beautiful and oh, so touching, Olivia. Either this person is in a real cell or a prison made within their mind–but a book can set you “free” no matter what has imprisoned you.

    I found this to be true when I was a child and my home life was so chaotic and unhappy.

    This really touched my heart…

    xoxo Gayle

      This person captivated is Me!! Both within the situations and actually. It’s chaotic too. This has been since childhood. I definitely wish to step out of it. Because of the current situation, I spend my day, and days together- confined to my house. I only step out to buy groceries and veggies once a month. It’s been 3 years now.

      About creating a “window” is my trial to Write and make it through the “present”.. It’s like a mission for My Life. To be able to get noticed through My work and hence, get “freed” of all the bondage.

      You read it right Gayle- I am somewhat in a cell.. Much Love for you. Thanks a very big bunch that you read beyond my words- xoxox

          Wow Gayle..
          I am super touched.. * Thank You * You felt it just the way I had wanted My Readers to!! It is pretty tough explaining situational chaos- Unless one has been through most of those.. One or two doesn’t really make you wiser.. It’s only when one’s doused into a thick puddle that he realizes that how 2 very basic elements can become dirty mud and drag you down..!!
          Wishing you the ultimate success- My Dear.. I am hoping you would emerge as a winner soon enough.. 😀

          Loads of Love for you xoxox

            Dear Olivia,
            I always feel so good when I “get” what someone is trying to present in their writing. You know it’s sometimes hard to interpret what someone is trying to convey, but I’m happy that I understood your message.

            Reading and writing both have been very important to me my entire life. Both have given me a sense of freedom and have let me go beyond the confines of my situations at hand. Reading was especially helpful to me as a child.

            Now taking up writing recently has been another wonderful blessing. I sense it has been the same for you.

            Here’s to us both lifting ourselves from the “mud”!

            With love,

      I lost my mom when I was 17, my dad had abandoned us when I was 12. I had taken hardships at an age when one is hardly aware of any worldly matter. I come from a very well to do lineage and yet had lived a Life that one would be scared to dream of- much less anticipate.

        We all have some limitations, after all we are human beings it’s logical and normal. I for example when very happy, but happy in a calm and content way, when I’ve reached peace with something … can not write a word, not even one single little word and even if I do it feels like dead words with no sense attached! 🙂 So I guess with everyone of us is different! But it doesn’t matter fiction or not I admire you for your talent! Thank you very much for your visit to my entry! Much, much appreciated!
