R-Evolution

~*~*~

Cephalopod slogging along the edge,
Dragging alongwith ‘tself a cage:
Proactive shell; burdening baggage-
Home becoming a coffin carriage!

Where it lived; once a cottage,
To all it seemed a great ‘vantage.
Doom it spelled, casting bondage;
Beyond repair, beyond salvage.

Already crawled a long mileage,
Difficult ‘twas to gather courage.
Now acting my role on this stage-
Void displaced with shades of rampage!

Painting now a profound image,
Wanting to travel with my written wordage;
I’ve stepped up like some eternal adage,
Wishing myself “Bon Voyage”..

~*~*~

Force an unconventional one to survive in the most traditional pattern; a revolution would be born!

    There once was a slogger named Gary
    whose home on his back he did carry
    but every so often
    the shell it would soften
    but Gary remained ever merry.

    Please forgive. This is the WORST lymeric ever on the face of the earth. But off the top of my head. 🙂

    Thanks for your poetic inspiration in this, Olivia!! 🙂

    I laughed out loud at you starting this with “Cephalopod” – it’s one of my friend’s favorite disparaging terms to use for dull people who don’t seem to use their brains.

    (Ironically, cephalopods are the most intelligent of all invertebrates)

    Nice job on the rhyming scheme, Olivia! Well done!

      Well if that’s what “cephalopod” did to you; then mission accomplished! That is including the “irony” part too!!

      Thank you so much for stopping by.. glad you liked it!!

    Wow Olivia! Sixteen lines and fifteen end with “age”…that in itself is remarkable. What a fitting closing:

    Painting now a profound image,
    Wanting to travel with my written wordage;
    I’ve stepped up like some eternal adage,
    Wishing myself “Bon Voyage”…

    I can almost see the smashing of the champagne bottle as a new voyage is christened! Good work!

    You are doing it! Good for you! And now that you have started, you have to fight it to the end. I see that you like this poetic form I learned recently it’s called ballad. Is it? Strong and at the same time very musical!

      If I say I intentionally wrote a ballad; that would be like saying cats can fly- or is it fish? I wonder if this raw write could anywhere be critiqued; much less compare it with a form..
      I am honored lady!

      Whatever I write is what I maybe going through at that point of time. I am very passionate about my Life and anything I might take up; so maybe that bubbles up giving a “heroic” edge to its form! It humbles me to read such a beautiful comment!

      Yes, I am all set to win it big!! I feel that power surging inside my veins (why not arteries? Veins carry the waste blood- nevermind)
      Jokes beside.. I may have an announcement to make over soon!
